Kraichgau Wine Tour

Cycling

This round trip offers a picturesque route through the Rhine plain and the wine landscape of the Kraichgau, ideal for both relaxed connoisseurs and sporty cyclists. The journey begins in the wine town of Wiesloch and initially leads through the fertile plain, past numerous orchards, without any significant climbs. The route then winds its way over gentle hills through the charming wine region of the Kraichgau. During the journey, the vineyards on one side and the Waldangelbach on the other are scenic highlights.

On the way back to the Wiesloch wine cooperative, numerous wine taverns await you, inviting you to sample the delicious Kraichgau wine. A stop at the Menges wine bar in Rauenberg is particularly recommended. This traditional bar is located on the Baden wine cycle route and offers an excellent opportunity to take a break. Here you can enjoy regional cuisine, which is mainly prepared with herbs and vegetables from the farm's own cultivation.

Pathway from Wiesloch-Walldorf Station to Frauenweiler

Highlight • Cycleway

While this isn't a top-notch bike path, it's at least lit and provides a short connection from Frauenweiler to the train station.
Unfortunately, the entrance is difficult to find from the train station. You have to head toward the wine shop first.
From Frauenweiler, there are no problems.

A nice rest area with two benches. The monument from 2022 is intended to commemorate the land consolidation in St. Leon-Rot and the new construction of the L546 country road.
Two beautifully crafted lizards can be admired on the stone and on the bench.
Recommended for a little rest.

The World Heritage cycle path leads through the middle of the trail over a bridge. The pond is hard to see because of the bushes. But it's worth stopping and getting off.

The small chapel dates from the first half of the 18th century. Inside is a copy of a statue of St. Rochus from around 1670. The original is in the parish church of St. Juliana in Malsch at the foot of the Letzenberg.

On this wonderful vantage point on the Hägenich you can enjoy a wonderful view towards the Rhine valley and Palatinate.
Next to it is also the Bacchus-figure "Speedy Bachus"
This was set up in 2015. The sculptor Alan David Cossens has created this barrel.

Trail Reviews

Gerhard M
May 28, 2021, Rundtour Kraichgauer Wein

the tour is from the brochure - Your bike tours our home 😊 the wine is limited to Wiesloch and Malsch Started in the wine town of Wiesloch, it first went to the Rhine valley via Frauenweiler around the golf course near Rot and near Bad Mingolsheim in the hills of the Kraichgau vineyard landscape, it went well on new, unknown paths so that I went up to the Letzenberg chapel near Malsch again 🚲 - further via Rettigheim through fields and woods to Eichtersheim, besides a small but fine moated castle and castle there is also a sculpture park, in sight of the moated castle there was lunch, further over Mühlhausen, Rauenberg before Wiesloch, shortly before Wiesloch up to the Bussierhäusel where the Bacchus figure "Speedy Bachus" and then down to the train station Discovered many new paths thanks to the route specification 😊

Great tour in stunning surroundings! The only downside was the sudden closure of the bike path.
