The Töss Valley circular tour lets you discover the Zurich Oberland at its best. The cycle path along the Töss is one of the best developed cycle paths in the canton of Zurich. The route is particularly enjoyable in summer, when the Töss is pleasantly cool.

It starts at the Nänikon/Greifensee train station, which has wheelchair parking spaces and barrier-free toilets. From here you cycle through beautiful forests and past wide fields up to Fehraltorf. Then you turn off and take the climb to Pfäffikon under your tires. After the town, you finally go a little further up to Hittnau. Here you have reached the highest point of the tour and can look forward to a long descent. It takes you to the Töss Valley, where you stick to the river and roll along the beautiful cycle path directly on the bank.

In Wila, we recommend a small detour for handbikers via the train station, as there are two chicanes at the railway bridge. You can stop here for coffee and cake. With renewed energy, you then continue via Turbenthal and Rikon to Kolbrunn, from where you cycle back to Fahraltorf. You will master another tough climb. Then you roll comfortably to Greifensee, where you reach the starting point of the tour again.

The route is recommended to you by a local handbike enthusiast and you can also easily cycle it in the opposite direction. Most of it runs along cycle paths and back roads. You have the opportunity to stop off and stock up on provisions at the Wisliger Märt in Weisslingen, the Konditorei Janz in Wila, the Gasthaus Sonne in Hittnau, the Steiner-Beck in Fehraltorf and the Girentobel farm shop in Saland.

View of Speck Airfield

Highlight • Viewpoint

Speck Airfield is a nice little hobby airfield. A restaurant with a terrace invites you to linger and there is also a nice playground for the little ones. You can also have a picnic on the lawn next door.

Beautiful cycle path directly along the Töss. There are also benches with a view of the water where you can take a break if you just want to take in the nature in peace.

Through the fields

Highlight • Natural

Here you drive past fields in bloom. The sunflowers are simply gorgeous, but the yellow rapeseed is also a feast for the eyes. In general, you have a great view from up here all the way to the Alpine peaks.

The ride along the Töss is nice but the rest of the ride features a lot of riding with traffic or on cycle paths that are on side walks, and a fair number of times you have to join busy / fast moving roads.
