Hiking

The starting point of the beautiful hike on the waterfall path is at the middle station of the Loferer Alm Bahnen. From here you start by hiking over small clearings and through the forest. Along the way you will always find lovingly designed wooden figures and experience stations such as the cowbell piano.

Finally you reach the Würmbach with its rushing waterfalls. The pools that have formed here are perfect for refreshing on hot days. You then climb further up in serpentines and always have wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and the lower Sodervokenalm.

After you have crossed the Würmbach, you will reach Bimalm. From here the path takes you along steep alpine meadows up to the Loferer Alm and on to the mountain station of the Almbahn II, where you reach the destination of the hike. Before you start your way back, you can fortify yourself here in one of the restaurants in the Almenwelt Lofer. You can then return on the same route or with the Almbahn II and Almbahn I gondolas, which will take you to Lofer.

Not easy to walk, but worth the effort. Children between the ages of seven and twelve will have fun. Tip: take swimming trunks and towels for the children.

Binalm and Waterfall

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Shortly after the Binalm, the descent to the waterfall path begins. The ban on bicycles is to be taken seriously here, as the paths are sometimes narrow along the waterfall and otherwise it can be narrow and dangerous for oncoming hikers.

Almbahn II Summit Station

Highlight • Rest Area

The Almbahn II takes you directly to the Almwelt Lofer. The mountain station is at an altitude of 1,450 meters. From here you have a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Several family-friendly hiking trails, such as to the red marble lake or the Loferer Steinberg, start from here. In addition to places to stop for refreshments, there is also an adventure playground for children.

June 28, 2025, Familienurlaub Unken Tag 3/4 // Loferer Alm Wasserfallweg

https://www.lofer.com/de/aktiv-im-sommer/wilde-wasser/wasserfallweg https://www.lofer.com/de/aktiv-im-sommer/familie/komm-spiel-mit-mir/almenwelt-lofer

On our third day of vacation, we finally headed up the mountain, up to the Almenwelt Lofer at 1,350 m. 🏔🇦🇹🐄 When we arrived at the top of the mountain station, we were greeted by a hailstorm, so we postponed our planned summit tour until the next day and first took the waterfall path (No. 50) down to the middle station. The short stage with an elevation gain of 360 meters is actually advertised from bottom to top, but you can also easily do it from top to bottom. We were very happy about this decision when we passed all the exhausted hikers climbing. 🥵 Unlike we expected, the hike was super varied, through forest and meadows, along the stream, to the rushing waterfalls. Simply great!!🤩🌳🌿💧🥾 After the sun came out briefly at the highlight waterfall (perfect for the photos, thank you!) we were then surprised by a heavy rain, so that we could actually have walked through the waterfall. :) 💧💧 After a short break with shelter in the forest, we were able to continue the great tour relatively dry until we were finally able to stop at the middle station at the Loderbich Alm, and even enjoyed the sun and delicious apple strudel on the terrace.😋🌞 PS: My collection for vacation in the Salzburg Saalachtal: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/2680422/-salzburger-saalachtal-lofer

Starting point: Loferer Almbahn car park. Take the gondola to the middle station (approx. €20 per person). Recording begins from there.

Descent from the mountain station to the mid-station via the waterfall path – very beautiful and very busy. Unfortunately, the Almsee lake is currently being dredged, and I've only seen some nice photos of it from the past.

Vacationing in Lofer (AT), a blind booking turns out to be a gold mine. First day, take the gondola to the middle station and then up the waterfall path. I can't add anything to the many praises. A hiking trail to fall to your knees.
