I cannot recommend the route between Sandharlanden and Holzharlanden - far too much traffic
After driving to the Kelheim jetty, I took a boat trip through the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg, which was beautiful to look at, but it was mass tourism. I then cycled on the path near the banks of the Danube to Eining, which included many pushing and muddy sections. Afterwards, I looked like I had just been pulled out of a mud pack... (Signs also advise against using this path. The actual Danube cycle path continues further south-east.) The beautiful landscape makes up for the effort. Cycle paths follow on the top of the dyke, with the Danube on the right and the Ilm on the left, also pretty. From Pförring, I continued on roads with moderate traffic (without cycle paths) to Unterdolling, where I reached the Schambachtalbahn cycle path on the former Ingolstadt - Lenting - Altmannstein - Riedenburg railway line. For details, see https://bahntrassenradeln.de/bahn_by.htm#by6_03. The infrastructure and landscape are top notch. First you cycle through hilly open terrain, then later down into the Schambach valley, with views of castles and palaces, through beautiful deciduous forest. From Riedenburg I used the Altmühltal cycle path - also a valley worth seeing - to Kelheim. In motion (cycling only): 70.1 km, 3:34 h, 19.6 km/h
Super nice tour again put together by Bernd, a pleasure tour🔝👌 a little changed during the tour, a stop at an ice cream parlor and a little shortcut....Thomas was the only one with a bike🚴♀️ and he prevailed against the e-bikers😀 bravo Thomas 👍 the weather held and everyone is happy....what more could you want....a great group and lots of fun, that's what a successful day with joy looks like👌😉🤗 thanks to Bernd at this point❤️
Today we went on another lovely bike tour with our hiking/cycling group Oldies 60+ and Friends. The scenery was simply wonderful. It was a bit long at over 70 km and we were always pressed for time, but we wouldn't have missed a second. The tour had everything your heart could desire. Great viewpoints, beer gardens, beautiful paths along the Danube and Altmühl and much more...... The highlight was the Funck ice cream parlor in Mindelstetten. Super delicious ice cream, gluten-free and vegan. Of course we had to have a beer there too...... Or was it two?? 🍺🍨 At the end we arrived at the car park tired and exhausted. Most people stopped for a drink, but we started our journey home straight away. We're already looking forward to the next tour. Thanks again to Bernd for the great planning, TomTom for coffee and Uschi for the delicious cake. 👍 Respect also to TomTom who cycled the whole route without an e-bike!!! 💪
Enjoyable bike tour along the Altmühl, Danube and the evening. We recommend that you plan 2 hours more so that nothing stands in the way of a stop in the beer garden. The scenery is very beautiful and the cycle paths are all easy to ride, even when it has rained, apart from a few puddles. The short detour to the Wieser Kreuz is recommended (TIP from Andrea 🙏🏽) Finishing at the Gasthaus Brauerei Schwan 🔝 The tour for us was the 🔨 It's great that you were all there, Franken Komootler 60+ and Friends ❤️ Greetings 🙋♀️🙋♂️ Germany's second longest curved wooden bridge at 193 meters and the secret landmark of Essing. The Tatzlwurm Bridge was built in 1986 and was the longest wooden bridge in Europe until 2006. Tip: I wouldn't do our tour on weekends.
It's done. For the first time, all Franconian Komootler 60+ and friends were out together. Bernd planned a great tour for us from Riedenburg along the Altmühl and the Danube. We took a variety of paths through forests and fields and through small towns. Because of the heavy rain of the last few days, it was a bit "puddled" here and there. But that's okay, Bernd will definitely clean all the bikes 🤔🤣🤣. Big respect to Thomas, who was the only one out with the bio-bike 🔝👍. It was great, the next tour can come.
