Hiking
In addition to the Keltenweg and Hutweidenweg, there is this third hiking trail that takes you through the legendary landscape around Braunsberg and Hainburg. With a length of a good four kilometers, the tour surrounds the Braunsberg nature reserve, largely outside the national park area.
From the parking lot near the Donaucafé you first climb the path to the upper Danube circular path. From the karst rocks you can briefly enjoy the wide view of the floodplain area. Then it continues uphill. In spring you walk through a dense carpet of snowdrops and larkspurs and reach the first large meadow area, now with a view east of Slovakia.
You continue walking along Braunsbergstrasse, following the edge of the forest and diving into the quiet, dense hillside forest on a narrow path. Again and again, deep trenches and pushed-up earth cuts the mountain side. On the south side of the Braunsberg you will then reach an area that is becoming brighter. You hike on narrow, stony paths accompanied by buckthorn, privet and hawthorn. The path turns west almost unnoticed and you end the tour with another view of the Danube.
