On the Uferhaus tour you can see particularly well what the measures taken in recent years have had on nature. As more water flows into the side arms and old channels, the water areas in the floodplain are increasing and rare animal species such as the European pond turtle or the dogfish benefit from this.
On this tour we take the staircase path along the Danube to the Orth Islands. Some of them are densely covered with old willows and poplars, and next to the stones you can find the shells of various types of mussels. At the level of the islands you turn into the forest and first walk across abandoned meadows, then through a dense forest.
You can often discover fresh wild boar tracks along the forest path. Following the Fadenbach, where European pond turtles sun themselves on the wood in spring and summer, you walk back to the starting point. You can end the tour in Humer’s Uferhaus.
