Hiking
The Napoleon circular route takes you to the area of the Danube backwaters in the Vienna National Park part. You hike for a good twelve kilometers through extensive forests and repeatedly pass memorial stones that were erected to commemorate the Battle of Aspern in 1809.
It starts at the Groß-Enzersdorfer Uferhaus - but you can also start the tour at the Kasernbrückerl or at the Panozzalacke. From there you hike north across former islands where fortifications can still be seen, past the powder magazine and the French cemetery, both hidden in the dense riparian forest.
On the southern edge of the Lobau we have planned a short detour for you to the restaurant “Zum Knusperhäuschen” so that you can take a relaxing break in the middle of nature. Then you complete the return journey. You pass two more Napoleon stones at the tank farm and near the Panozzalacke and reach the Uferhaus again.
