Running

Of the three routes, the Parstire Rock route is the least technical and the shortest. Its distance-height ratio remains no less high with 17.5 kilometers and 1,500 meters of ascent.

Given the relatively low mileage, no time to waste. The circuit begins with a bang with the steep climb towards the Cuvy plateau. You can then turn around to see the path traveled from Arêches.

There follows a descent that is less steep than the rest of the route. Enough to rest before the emblematic ascent of the route to the Parstire rock. At the top, treat yourself by lengthening your stride on a superb ridge path which ends at the Col du Pré.

Admire Lake Roselend one last time before starting the descent towards Arêches, punctuated by a small bump in the middle of the hamlets north of the village. Among them is Crêt-Gérel. There you will find a magnificent panorama to end your outing in style. The arrival is very close.

Le Cuvy

Highlight • Other

Le Cuvy is a high plateau at 1,700 metres, overlooking the village of Arêches. It's a tough, steep run up a grassy mountainside to reach it, but the trails are good and the views from the top are magnificent.

In July and August, the Grand Mont chairlift links the village with Cuvy for easy access to the high-level trails. This saves you about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) in distance and 684 metres (2,245 ft) of ascent.

Roche Parstire

Highlight • Summit

Roche Parstire is the first summit on the soaring mountain ridgeline that runs between Col du Pré and Mont Coin in the Beaufortain massif. The trail that follows the ridge offers gloriously fun, fast, undulating running with amazing views in all directions.

The summit is marked with a cross and signpost and stands at 2,108 m (6,916 ft).

Le Crêt-Gérel

Highlight • Other

Crêt Gerel is a small farming hamlet on the hill above Arêches. It's a steep run up a little footpath to get here, but you're rewarded with fine views of Arêches and the valley from the top.

The waymarked footpath that continues above Crêt Gerel takes you into Bois du Bersend, where there's a great choice of technical forest trails to run.
