Day 11 My alarm went off at 8:15 a.m. and at first I wasn't sure whether I should really take a day to regenerate. I had spent the night in a cozy, heated cabin that belonged to the host family, who had welcomed me warmly. After getting up, I decided to take it easy - without a helmet on my head, without a fixed goal. Just to regenerate. The day started relaxed. I used the time to relax and recharge my batteries. I went for a short walk through the autumn forest with the host family, collecting leaves together. It was especially nice to be out and about with the small child. In total, we covered about four kilometers. After that, we ran errands and I used the moment to take care of my equipment. My tent finally dried out and I aired out my things thoroughly. In the afternoon, I let the day continue in a relaxed manner, watched three hours of Netflix and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It felt good to clear my head and relax. The warm sun contributed to the relaxed atmosphere after the morning mist had cleared. Just close your eyes and feel the sun on your skin - a moment like a little vacation. A nice surprise of the day was that after talking to the host family I found out that I could stay another night. The interpersonal encounters were particularly pleasant. What started as a feeling of strangeness quickly turned into a pleasant familiarity. There were also special moments at the meal. A highlight was buying real Belgian chocolate - an expensive treat, but worth every cent. For dinner I was even invited to have pizza, my favorite food. There was also a Colombian sweet, an extremely sweet chocolate that formed a fascinating contrast to the Belgian one. Now the day is coming to an end. Before I go to sleep, I will oil my bike chain and put everything away for tomorrow. The next morning I will help a little with building the house before I continue my journey.
