Bridge over the Semois

Highlight • Bridge

The Frahan footbridge is one of the most used by walkers and is part of many walks. It would seem that a bridge already existed long before the beginning of the 20th century at this place.

Frahan Ridges

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

On the narrow rocky ridge, which rises above the headland of Frahan, once stood a castle - from which, however, only very scanty remains are preserved. Does not matter, because the view from the exciting trail that leads over the ridge, even without a castle is simply phenomenal.

Nice walk with some technical parts. The 'ladder walk' from Rochehaut is included in the walk. This ladder walk can also be walked from Rochehaut (about 5-6km).

This is a beautiful, albeit strenuous, hike. It descends from the top into the Semois River valley and then back up again four times. Along the way, you'll enjoy magnificent views of the valley from above, or you can follow the beautiful river for a while.

A wonderful and adventurous hike starting from Poupehan, taking us along the Promenade des Echelles with some of the most stunning views across the Semois valley. After a relaxing picknick along the Semois we went up to Rochehaut, providing us with a great view on Frahan village.

Very spectacular and difficult walk of 15 km around Rochehaut, Poupehan and Frahan, along the Semois, with quite a few steep climbs, thanks in part to the beautiful 'ladder walk' (Promenade des Échelles). As training for my upcoming 2-month trip through all the Scandinavian countries, I took my backpack with me, which was loaded to 17 kg, and with that I had really reached my physical limit 🫣. Totally unexpected was that Frahan was invisibly covered by a thick layer of clouds at the viewpoint in the morning (first photos). In the last photos you can see Frahan in all his glory in the afternoon 🤩. => https://efkesweg.be/pittige-hoogmeters-in-rochehaut-poupehan-en-frahan-15-km/

And now the real tour. It was only a good 13 kilometers, but there were via ferratas and ladders and always up and down through the Ardennes. A beautiful region that is absolutely worth seeing. Above all, the medieval village of Frahan, which we often saw from above and then crossed shortly before the end, is very beautiful.
