Circular walk monastery Sint Agatha in Sint Agatha – Our Monastery Path

Welcome to Our Kloosterpad! This day walk along the unique path past the monasteries of Central and East Brabant starts and ends at Sint Agatha Monastery in Sint Agatha. Along the way you will pass various highlights during 7.5 kilometers.

The oldest monastery in the Netherlands, the Saint Agatha Monastery, has been inhabited by Crosiers for more than 650 years. In the monastery, everyday life is lived in peace and quiet. That promises to be a relaxing trip.

The paths take you through the floodplains of the Maas, where you stroll through the Oeffelter Meent nature reserve. Here the Oeffeltscher Raam meanders peacefully through the landscape and you will encounter areas that have been specially created to allow birds to quietly search for food. Keep your eyes open, because who knows, you might see a red-backed shrike or a linnet.

There is certainly a chance that you will see these special species if you walk through the oldest cultural landscape in our country, the Maasheggen. The area is even on the UNESCO World Heritage List and for good reason: the characteristic mosaic of small fields, separated by natural boundaries such as dunes, trees, meadows and hedges, is special! With the Maas at your side, you can then walk back to Saint Agatha Monastery while enjoying beautiful views.

You can reach the starting point of the route in Sint Agatha by bus from Cuijk station. The bus stops just outside the village. You can park close to the monastery.
