This route was planned by komoot.
As usual, we started in the valley, but soon it was time to climb again. And so the valley views slowly gave way to mountain vistas, before another wide and impressive view of the valley opened up. Our first destination was the Estany de Cabana Sorda with the hut of the same name, and a rest stop on the northern shore. Afterwards, we visited the twin lakes of Basses de les Salamandres and were actually able to spot one of the rare Pyrenean newts. Past the Estanyó de Querol, the descent back to the valley begins. The mountains treated us today to two golden eagles and almost 20 griffon vultures. A short-toed eagle also joined us in the valley. It was another beautiful, but also strenuous, hike to round off our time in Andorra.
