This route was planned by komoot.
A spectacular tour with a ridge walk and magnificent views. We skipped the two summit climbs to make the tour a bit easier. The view from up there isn't fundamentally better than from other spots. The ridge walk is the best section and therefore worth all the other efforts. Highly recommended.
From the Plan-Francey mid-station, we took the Switzerland Mobile Trail 270 over the ridge to the Moléson. The clouds somewhat limited our view, so we concentrated more on the things that were close at hand: soldanella, spring gentian, cowslips, crocuses, and anke balls en masse.
Unfortunately, the GPS via Komoot didn't work this time – luckily, I recorded the tour with my Garmin watch. Our hike can be divided into three sections: Section 1 – The Warm-up Phase: We start at a leisurely pace from the valley station in Moléson-sur-Gruyères. The trail leads through beautiful scenery with fantastic views of the region to the Plan-Francey mid-station on the Moléson. The mid-station is located at 1,500 m above sea level. Section 2 – The Climb: Then the more challenging section begins: a mountain hiking trail that winds its way up to the ridge. The trail is varied and offers impressive views even at this point. Section 3 – The Ridge Trail to the Summit: The highlight is a spectacular ridge trail with magnificent views of the Vaud, Fribourg, and Bernese Alps. The trail leads us directly to the Moléson summit. It's definitely worth climbing the few meters from the mountain station to the actual summit cross. The panoramic view of the Mittelland, Lake Geneva, and the Alps is simply breathtaking. There's also a restaurant at the mountain station, perfect for a break with a view. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace: You can also take two cable cars – first, the funicular from Moléson-sur-Gruyères to the Plan-Francey mid-station, and from there, the cable car to the summit. Alternatively, you can combine the two: for example, take the cable car up to the mid-station and walk the rest of the way. We hiked the entire way to the summit on foot, taking the cable car and funicular back down to the valley. Conclusion: An all-around successful tour with plenty of variety, magnificent views, and a worthwhile summit experience. We really enjoyed it here – we'll definitely be back! Since there are many paths to the summit, we'll try a new route next time.
I parked in Moléson-sur-Gruyère and took the funicular to Plan-Francey. I climbed to the summit via the ridge path, following the Gros Plané sign and then the Moléson signs. I came back down by cable car and funicular. A total of three trips for 30 CHF/adult.
We start at the valley station: Moléson-sur-Gruyères (1109 m) and hike up to Molésons (2,002 meters above sea level). I divide our hiking trail into 3 sections: Section 1 can be described as the warm-up phase. Wonderful views of the region and the mountain. The second section leads up to the ridge via a mountain hiking trail. The third section is the crowning glory! A ridge path with breathtaking views of the Vaud, Fribourg and Bernese Alps leads to the Moléson summit. It is definitely worth climbing the few meters from the mountain station to the actual summit. The panoramic view over the Mittelland and Lake Geneva to the Alps is sensational. Unfortunately, the battery of our cell phone was noticeable. Take a power bank with you next time. There is also a restaurant at the top of the final station. You can also take two cable cars: the funicular from Moléson-sur-Gruyères to the middle station Plan-Francey, then the cable car to the Moléson summit. You can also choose the option of going up to the middle and then hiking, or... We went all the way up on foot and then returned later by cable car and funicular. We really liked it here and would be happy to repeat the hiking trail next time.
Today, a group tour with familiar and unfamiliar faces from the Komoot community. We climbed the Moléson, then walked the ridge to the Teysachaux, and finally crossed it. Unlike the Moléson, the Teysachaux requires regular use of the hands to progress along the rock face in the upper section. Beautiful tour in perfect weather with a pleasant t-shirt temperature 👌🏻😊 Participants: Patrick, Eric, Sergej, Vivien Photos up to #22 are from other participants
I was already excited yesterday… Even more so today. Such a great tour! I first followed Route 270 (described here: https://schweizmobil.ch/de/wanderland/route-270), which first leads slightly down over alpine pastures and then quite steeply up and offers a lot of views. A highlight is certainly the ridge path that gives it its name. Very, very great, practically never exposed, but with a sensational view. The Moléson summit can also score points with this. I could hardly get enough of it, as you can easily see from the many photos. Route 270 ends at the summit. But I didn't want to take the cable car... The descent was initially very steep and a bit slippery, so quite demanding for me, but then a dream path on the slope around the Moléson. Clearly another highlight.
