Every tourist wants to pull the bell? That destroys the peace and is also not in the spirit of the chapel. At least I think so..

Bisse de Savièse Torrent-Neuf

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

200 m after the café there is a steel door that is closed until the end of April because the path is impassable when there is snow and ice. It is best to ask beforehand whether it is open.

A totally easy hike at a breathtaking height, right on the edge of the cliff. 🤩🤩 This bisse was built in the 15th century by brave winemakers who grew wine in the area around Savièse. It's amazing what these people achieved at that time 😳💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 At the Buvette at the back there is an additional guided tour in French or English for CHF 5.-, which explains the work and the procedure really well - highly recommended. 👍 ... by the way, the tour also ends at A, I forgot to end the tour recording again 😂

A wonderful autumn hike, without a lot of hills, but history and a zoo included along the way.

Parking is also possible closer to the starting point. The predicted crowds have not materialized.

The hiking trail runs parallel to a "Bisse" (also called "Suone"), an artificial aqueduct that was used to supply Savièse with water. Today it is hard to imagine the courage and energy it took to dig the kilometers of open channels into the rock, to lay the wooden channels and barely foot-wide walkways made of simple boards along rock faces and across gorges. Today the hiking trail is well secured with railings and ropes, the gorges are overcome by 4 metal 100m long, airy suspension bridges. Absolutely impressive!

A tour which initially follows root paths along the moat. There is a chapel and a café and a place to rest. We continue to the first suspension bridge of a total of four. The trail later leads over wooden footbridges along the rock face. The suspension bridges are narrow long and sway a bit. Thrills and adrenaline rushes included. Even a bear stands in the middle of the path, even if it's only made of metal. 😱🐻 The path becomes increasingly narrow but is secured with railings and chains. You usually walk along the rock face next to the old gullies and sometimes through a tunnel. Car park P2 is closer to the start of the trail and more shaded than car park P1. If you want to follow the tour you should start from there. The menu in the cafe and probably also in the restaurant is French. So didn't come back.

A wonderful tour. Even if you walk back the same way, it looks very different. We were even lucky enough to see two chamois. Just great and highly recommended.

This sometimes dizzying tour is not for those afraid of heights. The Bisse du Torrent-Neuf is an impressive bisse - i.e. a historic water pipe - in the canton of Valais. It was signposted by an association with old photographs and developed as a hiking trail with 4 (!) suspension bridges. On the hike you can admire the details of the old techniques and the remains of the buildings built in the 15th century.
