This route was planned by komoot.
A beautiful route along the estuary from Aveiro to the south. The first 25 km are very close to the estuary and are largely on dirt tracks that are perfectly suitable for cycling. You can see many birds, including herons and flamingos. We get to Areão beach, but if you want to add a few more km, you can extend it to Mira. On the way back we stop for something to eat at the beautiful Vagueira Beach. It is also worth taking a walk along Costa Nova and its beautiful coloured houses. We get to the Barra lighthouse with a tour along the promenade and return to Aveiro.
Hello Komootler, the Costa Nova has beautiful striped houses and Aveiro is a bit like Venice. We were here in 2018 to refresh our memories. The weather wasn't that clear, but it held up. This area is always worth a visit.
