Brénod, the reception and starting point for this loop, is located in the southern part of the Jura massif. This accessible route is ideal for introducing yourself to the joys of gravel.
The route is the one that offers the flattest topography of this Collection. It winds across the Brénod plateau, perched at an altitude of 1,000 meters. It will delight lovers of wide open spaces.
Here, the Brenod fruit cooperative transforms nearly four million liters of milk per year into AOP Comté cheeses. You are in the heart of the Jura cheese region.
The first part of the route displays an ascending profile up to the Bellaroche pass. The route alternates between small roads and forest paths which cross large meadows with superb shades of green.
After the Col de Colliard, the route crosses a large fir forest before arriving at the Marron ponds. This sensitive natural area is home to preserved fauna and flora.
The end reaches Brénod by road and a few dirt paths without much difficulty.
