Reiatweg

Your gaze will wander far into the Swiss Alps as you travel along the Reiatweg in the northernmost part of Switzerland. This makes the Reiatweg the northernmost circular hiking trail in Switzerland. A landscape awaits you that is characterized by both the plateau and the adjacent lush green hills and the enchanting half-timbered villages. Here you will still find intact nature with a variety of fauna and flora. The Reiat is almost an insider tip that you can discover.

Even though the Reiatweg is almost 19 kilometers long, it offers hiking fun for young and old. Thanks to various entry and shortcut options as well as bus stops along the route, you can adapt the tour to your liking. The hike starts in Thayngen. You roam through forests, vines, fields and meadows. In Beaver Valley, with a little luck, you might even spot one of the beavers that gave the valley its name. From the hills of the Hegau you have a view over the striking cones of the Hegau volcanoes, the central plateau and the Swiss Alps. Another highlight are the old smugglers' paths and the smugglers' ditch. Let yourself be surprised.

Tip: Barbecue areas and rest areas along the tour invite you to linger and have a picnic. You can stop off at the Reiatstube restaurant in Opfertshofen. Your round trip begins in Bibern, which you can reach by bus.
