Located inside the Caldera de las Cañadas, the Roques de Garcia are emblematic geological formations of Tenerife. They are located on a volcanic ridge which offers an exceptional view of Teide.

Accessible to practitioners of all levels, this loop takes you to meet these geological curiosities. The route begins at the Cañada Blanca reception center served by bus lines 342 and 348. Recounting the life of the region's populations over the centuries, the site is worth a visit at the start or end of your outing.

A first portion of the road brings you closer to Roques de Garcia. It is probably the best known of them that welcomes you: the Cinchado. Also called the Stone Tree or the Finger of God, it is considered the island's landmark.

You then go up numerous rock formations created by lava flows. Among them, the Cascada and the Catedral respectively justify their names by their singular silhouettes. Back on the road that led you to Les Roques, all you have to do is reach the Cañada Blanca reception center.

The Roque Cinchado, also known as the "finger of God", is considered by some to be the symbol of the Cañadas. It is certainly the most spectacular and popular highlight among the Roques de García.

La Cascada Rock Formation

Highlight • Natural Monument

The waterfall and some other formations around it are good examples of pahoe hoe flows, a Hawaiian term to describe lava flows with more rounded and seamless shapes.

Photos do not adequately reflect the thickness of the formation. The rock rises almost 200m and is a former volcanic vent that has lost its mountain due to erosion. The crystal-like structures that arise when the lava cools down can be seen very well.
