This route was planned by komoot.
For anyone who wants to be inspired by the tour: don't take the alternative route that I took at the beginning, but rather the main route from Morro Jable. At some point the alternative route no longer exists and then you have to turn around or climb.
Today was the weather to hike to ⛰ZARZA 807m/NN 🥾. Cool thing, reward, the gigantic view of the west coast of Fuerteventura and the vertically sloping mountains ⛰
Almost six years after my first ascent, Fuerteventura's highest mountain was once again my destination for a hike. Unfortunately, the last 50-100 meters were shrouded in fog, preventing the fantastic view toward Cofete. Nevertheless, it was still worth it.
The hike to Pico de la Zara is simply a must! Great, not too difficult but long climb. With shoes! easy to run. A little steeper and rockier in the upper last part, but easily doable. Incredible view at the summit, breathtaking cliffs to Cofete. I then chose the descent (alternative) to Esquinzo, which is tough, only those who are very sure-footed and have smart shoes should dare to do it. The gambas al aijollo in the Caretta Beach Bar were some of the best on the island. Definitely do it! Attention to Esquinzo, I didn't go over the summit but rather along a narrow, partially completely exposed path around the mountain because I missed the turnoff to the summit. That was very, very difficult, please go over the summit of Monte Aguda!
From Solana Motoral, a wide gravel road leads to the Pico de la Zarza, the highest mountain on Fuerteventura at 807 m. The climb to the rocky edge of the summit is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the east and west coasts. The way back continues further east via an alternative route that ends at the picturesque Playa de Jandia. Here the sea invites you to take a refreshing swim - so be sure to bring your swimsuit 😉 Now New Year's Eve and the new year can come! 🤙🏻
