Great tour with fantastic views. Sure-footedness, decent shoes and good fitness required. At the end the battery gave up. We didn't fly 😬
Wonderful ☀️ hiking weather and a glassy sea were a great start to the day. Very nice tour with wonderful views. The view of Stromboli makes you look forward to the plans for the following day. 🤩
Although Panarea seems like just an island, it is actually a volcano, as important as Vulcano and Stromboli. After disembarking from the hydrofoil, we immediately set off. Massimo explains the history of this island and its volcanological characteristics. We walk through the narrow streets of the village: the houses are painted white, cared for down to the smallest detail. To make me experience first-hand the fact that we are actually walking on a volcano, Massimo takes me to the beach, where the fumaroles are located. The path now climbs steeply, until it becomes a steep staircase that makes the climb easier. Every now and then I stop to look behind me: in the distance, Stromboli is puffing. Once we reach Punta del Corvo, the climb is over and the view of the Aeolian Islands is all-round, a breathtaking spectacle to say the least. The descent is steep and in some short stretches I secure myself with my hands to the rocks to progress safely. The view repays all the effort. Once I reach the flat path, I feel a presence behind me: three mules proceed in single file behind me. A little cuddle, then I continue towards the suggestive prehistoric village of Cala Junco, before returning to the port.
Today's tour took place on the island of Panarea and started there directly at the port. First we went through narrow streets past pretty houses before the ascent to Punta del Corvo began on a narrow path. At every corner there were new spectacular views of the wonderfully blue sea and the neighboring islands. At the top we take a short lunch break and at exactly 12 noon we saw an eruption on the neighboring island of Stromboli. We then continued on a narrow stony path along the ridge and then down again to sea level. We visited excavations of a prehistoric village before there was a cool bath in a bay. After that it was only a short walk back to the port. Not a very long tour in terms of kilometers, but much more challenging than the first two tours due to the nature of the path.
