This route was planned by komoot.
The trail features varied terrain, including unpaved, natural, alpine, and gravel paths. You can expect mountain hiking paths and general hiking paths. Some sections involve rocky steps and stoney areas, demanding careful footing. The route can have continuously changing gradients, with some technical parts due to large stones.
This loop offers several notable features. You'll pass by the Capanna 2000 Hut, a popular mountain refuge. The Claudio Brissoni Flower Trail – Alpe Arera (Sentiero dei Fiori) is renowned for its botanical diversity. You'll also traverse several scenic mountain passes, including Branchino Pass, Corna Piana Pass (where ringing a bell at the summit cross is a tradition), and Passo Gabbia.
The "Sentiero dei Fiori" (Flower Trail) is particularly famous for its abundant and unique floral species. In spring and summer, you can observe a wide variety of flowers, including rare endemic varieties specific to the region.
The Capanna 2000 Hut is a popular starting point for this loop. Parking is generally available near the access points to the hut, but it's advisable to check local signage or official park websites for specific parking areas and any potential fees or restrictions, especially during peak season.
Information regarding public transport directly to the trailhead for this specific loop is not readily available. Hikers typically access the area by car. It's recommended to check local bus schedules for Val Brembana or the nearest towns for potential connections, though direct access might be limited.
The best time to hike this loop is generally during spring and summer. This allows you to fully appreciate the abundant flora of the Sentiero dei Fiori and enjoy the panoramic views in favorable weather conditions. Always check weather forecasts before heading out, as alpine conditions can change rapidly.
Generally, dogs are allowed on hiking trails in the Orobie Alps, but they should always be kept on a leash, especially in protected areas like Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche, and near livestock or wildlife. Always clean up after your pet.
As this trail is located within the Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche, there are typically no specific permits required for hiking the trail itself, nor an entrance fee to the park. However, always respect local regulations and signage, especially concerning protected areas.
When hiking in Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche, it's important to follow general park rules: stay on marked trails, do not disturb wildlife or pick plants, carry out all your trash, and keep dogs on a leash. Respect private property and any specific local regulations posted.
Yes, the Capanna 2000 Hut is located directly on the route and serves as a popular stop. Additionally, the Mezzeno Mountain Huts are also in the vicinity, offering potential options for refreshments or accommodation.
Yes, this route incorporates significant sections of the official Sentiero dei Fiori (76% of the route) and also briefly touches upon the Sentiero delle Farfalle (30%) and Periplo del Pizzo Arera (24%).
Unfortunately today too, almost all day in fog and clouds. Classic loop always beautiful, little difference in altitude and not very long. Famous for flowers but today I saw few varieties.
From the Mezzeno huts, go up to the Branchino pass along path 219. At pass ai take the path of flowers and after crossing the scree under the Corna Piana you arrive at the Bocchetta di Corna Piana. After the Gabbia pass under the Arera peak you arrive at the Capanna 2000 refuge. The return is along the flatter path 222 which always leads to the Branchino pass and its lake. Not far away is also the refuge of the same name.
High and low flower trail from Baite Mezzeno - Branchino and Capanna 2000 - Sun 27 Oct 2024
An alternative that I really like, compared to the usual path of flowers starting from Capanna 2000. It starts from the Baite di Mezzeno and reached the Branchino pass, joins the path by first making the upper part, refreshment stop at Capanna 2000 and concludes with the lower part. I accompanied some friends who do not know the Orobie and I am happy to have amazed them with the fairytale landscape of the Arera, with the meeting of 11 chamois and other animals. The only disappointment, but a few flowers and butterflies depend on this year's drought.
