A magnificent day in nature with beautiful people 🙏 and full of beautiful discoveries 🤩: The Romelaere ponds The canals of St Omer by boat A short tour of Saint Omer
A nice little course with almost no mud In stroll mode Please note dogs are not allowed in certain parts of the reserve Beautiful little encounters 🦢🦤🦆🦆🦌
The second day of our stay in the country of St-Omer we visited Arc International in Argues in the morning, the largest crystal factory in the world. No photos here because of the protection of their production process. We learned that the very pure sand is imported from our Maasmechelen! We also learned that Arc has not manufactured crystal since 2005 because of the necessary, unhealthy lead. They now manufacture krysta, in which the lead is replaced by barium oxide (BaO). In the afternoon we chose a walk in the marshes of Audomarois. The best way to visit the marshes is by boat, but that is not an option for a komooter 😉. On the way to Rome I also crossed it by bike and that was wonderful and definitely worth repeating. The walk I chose starts from Clairemarais but makes many kilometers on asphalt and concrete. Only a core - the nature reserve itself - runs over boardwalks to an observation hut. In the end I was left somewhat hungry. A reason to go for another walk there. In 2013 UNESCO recognized the reserve as a biosphere reserve.
