Cycling

Carrilet II greenway is a 39.7 km route that follows the old route of the narrow gauge train between Girona and Sant Feliu de Guíxols. It is an ideal route to enjoy the nature and culture of the Gironès and Baix Empordà regions, from the Ter river basin to the Ridaura valley. The route has a gentle slope and a compacted gravel pavement, suitable for bicycles or walkers.

The route starts in Girona, a city with a rich historical and artistic heritage, where the cathedral and the Jewish quarter stand out. From Girona, the route crosses the Selva depression, a mosaic landscape where crops and forests alternate. On clear days, you can see a panorama that goes from the Pyrenees to Montseny. The route passes through villages such as Quart or Cassà de la Selva, where the traces of the cork industry can be seen.

The second part of the route runs through the Ridaura valley, which separates the Cadiretes and Les Gavarres massifs. The route descends gently until reaching the sea in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, a fishing town with an important cultural legacy, such as the Porta Ferrada monastery or the Thyssen space. From Sant Feliu de Guíxols, you can enjoy the views of the Costa Brava.

Start with the bicycle bus (bicycles in the trailer) in Sant Feliu. This bus drives to the bus station in Girona and then you can go back to Sant Feliu by bike via the route de carrilet (41 km) 👍

Unfortunately already the last stage: From Girona we go to the sea to Sant Feliu de Guixols. After a refreshing swim in the Mediterranean, the bus transfer to Barcelona follows. Then one last day of vacation with sightseeing in Barcelona and the vacation is unfortunately over!

We cycle along the Vía Verde to Sant Feliu de Guixols. Here we have time for a refreshing swim in one of the beautiful bays of the Costa Brava before a bus takes us on to Barcelona.

Habe im Hotel „The Bloom by Pillow“ in Girona nicht besser geschlafen als im Bulli in Olot. Vermisse meinen Bulli. Hoffentlich geht es ihm gut zwischen den Vulkanen und dem Möbelgeschäft, das kein IKEA ist. Noch eine Nacht werde ich Bulli nicht allein lassen. Wasche morgens im Hotel meine Unterhose im Waschbecken. Bügel sie trocken, den Rest föhne …
Another wonderful bike ride from Girona to the coast and back with the bike bus. For those looking for a nice city trip to a destination in Spain that is not overloaded with tourists, Girona is definitely recommended.
