Hiking

This wonderful circular hike, around 16 kilometers long, first takes you through a lot of forest. You hike through the dense deciduous forest of the Bois de Beauport and often walk along streams and water bodies. The paths are often deeply cut or bordered by dense fern hedges. Sometimes you also go through tunnels formed by the ivy that is rampant here everywhere.

Even by the sea, on the GR34, you still walk through the forest in places. And this section is actually quite strenuous, as it goes up and down stairs.

The Abbaye de Beauport offers the most beautiful imaginable conclusion at the end of the hike. For a small entrance fee you can visit the facility and the exhibition. Which in turn is very appealing and the essential descriptions are available in six languages. Let yourself be surprised - the monastery and the garden are simply overwhelming.

The typical Brittany bell tower and the southern entrance are the only two elements left over from the 16th century.
According to legend, the chapel was the site of many wonders in the Middle Ages.
During the pinnacle of fishing in the 19th century, fishermen in particular invoke the Mother of God of Kerfot.

A typical church for this area. The car park next door is also a good starting point for an extensive exploration of the natural forest, which extends to the monastery Beauport.

Coastal path

Highlight • Other

Very nice and varied path along the coast. Sometimes it goes through forest, sometimes past hydrangea fields and again and again you have great views of the sea.

Beauport Abbey

Highlight • Monument

The "Abbaye de Beauport" was founded by the Premontaner order in 1202 and is one of the most important buildings of ecclesiastical architecture in Brittany. The name "Beauport" (beautiful harbour) comes from the attractive location directly on the sea.

The abbey can be visited and the exhibition is very attractive. You can find more information here: abbayebeauport.com/fr/index.html.

Varied hike including part of the Sentier des Douaniers, but unfortunately with poor views of the coast. The ruins of Beaufort Abbey were impressive.

The recommendation for this successful forest hike came from Anette https://www.komoot.de/tour/74591854 - thank you! Everywhere real juicy May green - nice 🤗 The ground is very soaked in places, but usually a path succeeds at the edge. We don't meet any other hikers- weird. Komoot offers a weather forecast, today it is 100% wrong - it was 0% rain instead of 100%. Which was ok- predictions on the coast are difficult. Finally, a green piece on the GR34. I get interested in oyster farming and learn that as early as 2,000 BC. the Greeks farmed oysters...
