The second day in Favignana is dedicated to exploring the other half of the island. Leaving the port and heading west, I advise you to avoid the only tunnel on the island by taking advantage of a variant on the coast closed to traffic. You can find a first refreshment point after only five kilometres, on the Cala Rotonda beach, or a couple of kilometers further on near the Punta Sottile lighthouse.
Once you reach the extreme west of the island, you just have to take one of the most beautiful trails in Italy: on the coast, not even too flat, with a rather rough surface, but above all with a crazy view of the coast and the hills of Favignana. Enjoy this handful of kilometers immersed in nature (just over halfway there is a shaded bar, if you've been pedaling under the scorching sun for too long) and calmly reach Punta Faraglione. In the distance you can see the island of Levanzo, also part of the Egadi.
After a refreshing swim, I suggest you go back to the center of Favignana and try to see it from above. The road to Mount Santa Caterina is uphill, first paved and then dirt. To go up to the castle, however, it is necessary to abandon the bikes (they say that a bike has never been stolen in Favignana) and climb up the long stairs. If you still feel like pedaling, however, challenge the rather bumpy white road that climbs up to the cross of Christ the Redeemer, on the hill opposite Mount Santa Caterina. The view from up here, over the port and the former Florio tuna traps, is stupendous.
You just have to get off and enjoy the last Favignanese sunset: an unforgettable experience deserves a dream ending.

Tour of the west part of Favignana. The tour is easy, with the exception of the climb to the castle of Santa Caterina. To go up to the castle, instead of going through the front access paved with steps, we went up taking the path that starts a little further on. Both routes, if you are not a superman, can be done on foot by pushing the bike. In retrospect I suggest the stepped climb. From the castle we resumed the path that goes around Punta Grosso, and then descends towards the sea. If you have an electric bike, leave your bike at the foot of the paved climb, walk up to the castle, get back on your bike and continue along the road that leads to Punta Grosso. Even this road, if they do not fix the fund, from a certain point it becomes demanding. Route all under the sun, about half on paved road, the rest on dirt roads and paths.
