The pass over L'Emboixar, this is the way to the right, after the top of Montgo, to Cami de la Colonia del Montgo, is very steep, dangerous and halfway i lost the path and had to go over Barranc del Cap Gros del Montgo, which was just as steep and dangerous. I can very much recommend the climb to the Cap Gros del Montgo, but i should suggest another way down then to the right over L'Emboixar. Maybe the long way around or the same way down.
El Montgó, with its 753 meters of altitude, is the undisputed landscape and natural icon of the Marina Alta in the northeast of Alicante. Declared a Natural Park in 1987, this majestic limestone massif is characterized by its elephant-shaped silhouette, offering rich biodiversity, archaeological sites, and spectacular views of the Mediterranean. It had been 11 years since we last climbed via today's route, which in my opinion is the most beautiful and wildest of all, also the most difficult. You ascend 400 meters in one kilometer along a poorly defined path, marked only at the beginning with a few arrows, it also has some grade II scrambling. But the effort is rewarded with fantastic views and a quantity of flowers at this time of year that are a delight to the eyes. Despite the day not cooperating, there was a lot of desert dust suspended in the air, which meant the visibility was not very good, and strong gusts of wind upon reaching the crest, we enjoyed it greatly, it's a reward to find that we are still prepared for these routes. Descent via the PR marked path, very busy today and also uncomfortable to walk on due to the type of karst terrain full of sharp rocks. Falling is not an option here. In the end, we visited the Cueva del Gamell (Camel) cave, which I didn't remember being so large.
