Hiking

The Dwingelderveld may be the largest wet heathland in Western Europe, but in addition to heathland, you will also find nice forests here that are great for walking all year round. In the 20th century, many trees were planted in the area to keep drifting sand together and since the 1990s, nature has been allowed to take its course here. That makes for a varied route of more than 9 kilometers today.

While roaming on forest paths you will come across different mushrooms in the fall. You pass a tree that is often full of tinder fungi, which grow all year round. When you've had enough of the tinder mushrooms, you can continue on the natural paths through the beautiful landscape. Fens, forest paths and sand drifts: you will encounter them all during this autumn walk.

The deciduous trees color yellow, red and orange and together with the green conifers they form a beautiful picture next to the yellow and brown heaths. On the forest paths also pay attention to whether you see acorns and sweet chestnuts, there is a good chance.

The best part of the walk is saved for last: here you walk on boardwalks over water and right through nature. It is an adventurous path on this tour, which ensures fun for young and old!

The tour starts and ends at De Boslounge, where you can park and get off the bus close by. You do this at the Dwingelderveld stop. At De Boslounge you can enjoy a snack and drink before or after the walk. Are you out with children? They can play outside here.

The boardwalks on this route are where the route gets its name from. Lovely playful walk on the plank paths over the water.

A combination of the yellow and white route. The walk is from the ANWB. Wonderful walk. Of course the boardwalk was a must, but it could have been a bit longer. Top walk.

On the way to visit family, take a breath of fresh air at the Dwingelderveld. It is a pity that there are no tactile, smell and hearing sensations in the photos. It was delicious!!
