The hike via the entrance to Nauders Fortress should only be undertaken by experienced hikers with good shoes and a head for heights. The path is sometimes only 30-40 cm wide, it goes down vertically without safety! But it's a great tour!
Extremely well laid out path. The climb from the old prison is very steep and endless. But the reward on arrival is worth it. Strongly not recommended for children under 10 and people prone to vertigo.
The Kaiserschützenweg is a historical hiking trail. But it is better to go the other way around, because the last stretch that I walked is very steep downhill. So first take path 13 from Nauders to Nauders Fortress on a wide gravel path. Then up the Kaiserschützensteig and back to Nauders via the Sellesköpfe.
Great tour. But a head for heights and surefootedness are necessary
1️⃣ ☁️🌧☀️Initial circular hike with the hiking group from Nauders to the fortress, via the Kaiserschützenweg to the positions on the Sellesköpf and via the Norbertshöhe back to the hotel.
It went from Nauders in the direction of the fortress, where the Kaiserschützenweg begins. The path leads up the mountain via stairs and narrow paths, covering about 1.6 kilometers and about 380 meters in altitude 💪😊. Once at the top you can go left for a tour. You pass the Karvernen, have a great view of Bergkastel and Altfinstermünz. Then we went back on the Kaiserschützenweg, where you can see the Inn. The path goes along narrow paths along the mountain, you can look almost vertically down 😊😊. At the end of the path you come to two further karverns which are also connected to each other and form the exit of the Kaiserschützenweg. There you can still visit old positions. We then continued towards Norbertshöhe, where there was delicious cake 😊😊. From there it was not far to Nauders. For the ascent from the fortress, you should be somewhat fit.
IMPORTANT: walk the path counterclockwise. Part of the route is definitely too steep for a descent, too narrow, too rocky and you climb up forwards and not down backwards. The tour begins at Nauders Fortress and the most violent section begins immediately. You should be free from giddiness and sure-footed. Not suitable for children. The path is peppered with descriptive information boards and impressive views. Gladly also go into the trenches, or into the caverns. How hard it must have been to have to endure here in the cold and snow in winter. https://www.nauders.com/de/Your-Nauders/Im-Sommer/Wandern/Kaiserschuetzenweg
