Today's route is easy to do with just under 6 kilometers. You will be surprised how much beauty you encounter on this relatively short trip. If there are two words that summarize the walk on the Overijsselse Sprengenberg, they are 'colorful' and 'sloping'. That is promising!
Not only is it…

This route was planned by komoot.
A very nice circuit with beautiful views to the Palthetoren from the heath below and many height differences. On the slope of the Sprengenberg you will find a very rare piece of raised bog. The path up is not steep and the forest on the slope is beautiful, with lots of undergrowth and a nice winding trail for MTB riders. You will pass a number of high viewpoints with benches to enjoy. Before you you see large areas of rolling heathland and forest. The path down is largely flanked by enormous rhododendrons. I had mixed feelings about that. Rhododendrons are beautiful, but they are an invasive species that - in my opinion - has no place in a Dutch National Park where the natural landscape and its associated species are central. But maybe there is a good reason they are there, I haven't looked up that information. Nevertheless, a really nice walk.
Beautiful easy hike on well-maintained paths.
Beautiful route, lots of variety, long rhododendron avenues of enormous size, heathland that is beautifully in bloom now, the Palthetoren and wonderful hiking trails. Beautiful.
📌 Haarle 🅿️ Molenweg 2 🇳🇱 Overijssel ⌚ 1 hour, 18 minutes 🥾 6.2 kilometers ☕ Herberg de Pas, start/end route 🎨 Orange 🚸 Mainly unpaved 🗺️ I like to walk What a Marketplace is good for 😁 For a nice walk! Now I often walk on the Sallandse Heuvelrug, but never started from this point. Of course it was on my very long list of 'to do again someday' 😅. And because someone in the above fb group recently shared a walk here where you also passed the Palthetoren 🏰, which I had never seen before, the choice was not difficult. A beautiful walk -what beautiful trees 🌳 I saw- over mainly wide sandy paths and along large rhododendrons that are starting to bloom. Unfortunately the inn was no longer open when we got back. But all the more reason to come back here again, perhaps for a bike ride 🚴🏼♀️
We have followed almost the entire fixed orange route (see photo of the map). We have followed the long forest road with rhododendrons (that will be extra beautiful when they bloom) instead of the signposted north-east corner of this orange route. A nice varied route, with (so) a beautiful forest avenue, div. forest/sand paths, parts along or through heaths (also the most beautiful when the heath is in bloom, of course) and near the striking Palthe tower (see highlight; you can see it from a distance, but it is not accessible). Despite the heavy rain lately, you will certainly not get wet feet here. The route partly goes over reasonably firm subsoil with sand and some crushed stone in it or over very sandy subsoil. The water here sinks quickly into the soil. Cycling is only allowed here to a limited extent on the indicated cycle paths and the MTB route. There is a parking lot at the start / finish and we saw (but did not visit) a catering facility at that parking lot.
