This route was planned by komoot.
Would have given 6 stars. Dream tour, plan enough time. It took us 7 hours instead of the actual four hours because there are so many places to stop and take a break.
Such a cool hike! The Deer Rocks are incredibly beautiful, and walking along the GR 5 makes my heart race. I definitely have to come back here with my backpack.
Very nice view of the Black Forest. To the Feldberg, Belchen, Blauen and Kandel. Very icy in places...so the crampons were very helpful. The section of the Hirschsteinfelsen via the stairs is currently closed.
Snowshoe tour without snowshoes but with snow in your shoes
Very nice round, without much challenge Lorraine: Popular hiking trail https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/wandern/lorraine/vogesen-col-de-la-schlucht-12km/224760934/
At around 9:30 we managed to get a parking space at the Col de la schlucht and so we were ready to go. First to the Hirschsteine with a bit of climbing. But everything was well secured and easy to manage. Then we continued on mostly wide paths to Lac Vert. Unfortunately you can only drive here by car, which our neighbors also make extensive use of, and so we soon continued up to the Route de Crete. Here again there were masses of cars, so we continued to Le Tanet with a great view. The path to the Col de lla schlucht was rocky but beautiful. A great, varied and scenic route. There is a lot going on at the hotspots, but the hiking sections are less popular. Clearly recommended
After a huge thunderstorm the night before, it was a bit cooler today (ideal) and a bit cloudier. Perfect hiking weather! Up to the Col de da Schlucht again, yesterday we hiked south, today it was the northern part. First we went through a fairytale forest up to a lookout point (Spitzenfels) where we again inspected the wall through which the Sentier des Roches leads. On the Hirschpfad (also secured with railings on the wall for about 150 m) you then come up a long staircase to the Belvedere of the Hirschsteine with a nice bench and a great view. Fortunately, part of the path had already dried out well again.... Down to Seestaettle with Ferme Auberge you have to cross a scree field before you reach the Lac Vert, which glows intensely green in the sun due to its algae. Now leisurely ascend... to Chalet Erichson, a hut belonging to the Club Vosgien, which is run in a similar way to the Palatinate Forest huts. There we had a delicious cheese platter and blueberry tart for dessert. After refreshment, we continued the climb to the summit of Thanet (Tanneck), always along the former German-French border and old border stones. At Thanet you can still see the remains of the former "border observatory" and you have a fantastic view as far as the Black Forest and, if the visibility is good, the Alps. The way back also leads for long stretches along the ridge of the main Vosges ridge, past blueberry bushes and heather, always offering wide views. You shouldn't ignore the Wurzelstein, it's only a short detour. You then come back down to Col de la Schlucht through dense forest, although the path seems like a fairy tale on the way up, but is rather rocky on the way down 😉. Three wonderful days are over...it was fantastic (like every year), thank you for the great planning! And I'm already looking forward to next year! 🤩☀️😎🧙😘
I saw the tour recently at @Juliet* and @Waldhexe and just had to do it, thanks to you 😁. A really beautiful tour with some climbing (but everything was secured) and very nice paths that definitely make up for the slopes in between. We were at the huge parking lot at 10 a.m., it was completely full and we had to look for something a little further away so that the 🦆 would be in a good position. August 15th is a public holiday in France and people obviously liked to use it for excursions. But then we got lost on the way.
