Mountain biking

This 53-kilometer tour around Achertal offers panoramic views and you can also orient yourself using the yellow mountain bike destination signs. The start and end point is the train station in Kappelrodeck, making uncomplicated travel from the surrounding area possible.

Versatile impressions such as the magical Zuckerbergschloss, the Ruhestein in its beautiful landscape, and the idyllic Mummelsee enrich this demanding route. With almost 1,500 meters of elevation gain, you should be fit and confident with your mountain bike. For e-MTBs, there are charging facilities at several locations, and for your personal battery, there are refreshment stops like the Darmstädter Hütte with a diverse selection of food and drinks.

If you want to split the kilometers and elevation gain over two days, this is easily possible thanks to the optimally located https://www.bettundbike.de -accommodations. Exactly in the middle of the tour, two of them are located not far from your route: the Wellness- & Nationalpark Hotel Schliffkopf and the Berghotel Mummelsee.

Darmstädter Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Always delicious food and drinks. There is plenty of outdoor seating around the hut. The hut is located directly on the Westweg and is therefore also a good stopover with overnight accommodation.

Mummelsee

Highlight • Lake

An old legend tells that in the past, nixies and dwarves, as well as a king, lived in the Mummelsee. On full moon nights, the nixies are said to have come to the Deckerhof in Seebach to do handicrafts, sing, and tell poems with the inhabitants.

Even today, the nixies visit village evenings. Of course, only in the company of their strict father, the Mummelsee King.

The Hornisgrinde is one of the super highlights in the Northern Black Forest. The highest elevation in the region is surrounded by many other top spots along the Hochschwarzwaldstraße.

Today, Komoot kicked me out again during the tour, asking why I had to add the rest of the route. It somehow messed up my travel time. The rest seems to be roughly correct, though. The tour was very beautiful, but different than I expected. The trail was mostly through the forest, and from what I heard, it was quite …

Phew... today's tour was only possible by doing a little puzzle, thinking outside the box, thinking along or acting intuitively and just doing it 😀😁🫣
Not so well signposted...kind of tricky, but stuck it out in the end plus did all the trails: Path One, Path Two, Skill Area and Statera Schwarzwaldtrail 👍👍
The trails total length of approx. 7 …

Wow... what a great tour ☀️⛰️🌲🌳
Like going through 3 climate zones...
- The Black Forest with snow
- Spring in the forest with bees and butterflies
- Then the vineyards

The climb with almost 1500m of elevation in one go is 100% worth it and the trail with 8km and 800m of elevation downhill would be a dream, if …

Despite the initially bad weather, we are absolutely thrilled by this magnificent landscape. The greenery here is truly magnificent. The trails are excellent, but unfortunately, the weather conditions make them very difficult and treacherous. It had already rained a lot beforehand.

I can only recommend. Just beautiful. A beautiful view at every corner. You can only drive slowly and enjoy the landscapes 🏞️❤️

Today the blue sky greeted us, but only at -4 degrees. In the first few km we actually had a direct encounter with a wolf. He looked at us, marked a stone and then disappeared into the forest. Then we went on the trails of the Sasbachwalden Trail Park (Path Two and Alpirsbacher Black Forest Trail) to Sasbachwalden. Via Kappelrodeck …
