The approach from the coast through the more than 10 km long deep gorge of the Sella river is spectacular. The hike starts in the small mountain village of Soto de Sajambre. There are many beautifully renovated houses and a nice looking restaurant, which is unfortunately closed during the week. The hike itself climbs steeply for an hour through a beech forest to the Vegabano mountain pasture (managed) and then runs under the ridge of the Picos until it descends again over another mountain pasture. A beautiful route that, together with the approach (see above), is well worth it.
