Is the From Miazzina to Monte Todum loop tour dog-friendly?

While the trail itself doesn't have specific restrictions against dogs, it's always recommended to keep your dog on a leash, especially when passing through alpeggi (mountain pastures) where livestock may be present, or in areas with wildlife. Ensure your dog is fit enough for a moderate hike with significant elevation changes.

What is the best time of year to hike this loop?

The trail is known for being sunny, making it a viable option even during colder months. However, the best time is generally from late spring to early autumn. If hiking in winter, be prepared for snow and ice, and consider bringing snowshoes or crampons for safety.

It involves steep sections and varied terrain.

What is the terrain like on the From Miazzina to Monte Todum loop tour?

The terrain is quite varied. You'll encounter ancient mule tracks, some with numerous stone steps, shaded forest paths, and open meadows with traditional mountain pastures (alpeggi). Trail Reviews

Brigitte & Reto
July 14, 2024, Val Grande: Miazzina - Monte Todum - Miazzina

Beautiful, very varied tour. At the very top, there is a nice place to take a break with a view of Lake Maggiore - the summit book is in a drawer in the table. If you are traveling with a dog: at least in July 2024, there were always small streams that crossed the path and from which the dog can drink well.
