Great short Tour, around 2h with break with wonderfull view iver the Wörther lake

The "Slow Trail Römerschlucht" is planned for today. The start is in Unterwinklern near Velden. The path first leads through the romantic Römerschlucht and then around the Forstsee. There would also be the opportunity to swim here. But the real highlight is that this is a Carinthian bathing lake where the shore is FREELY accessible all around! We were amazed, because that is otherwise rather rare in Carinthia... Then we continue to the "Hohes Kreuz" lookout point, from here you have a fantastic view of Lake Wörthersee and Velden. Then we head back towards the Römerschlucht and back to the starting point. The circuit itself does not offer any real challenges, but slightly sturdier shoes and a bit of fitness are worth it, especially in the gorge. Conclusion: A very nice circuit that, in addition to the great gorge, the Forstsee with swimming opportunities, also offers a fantastic view from the Hohes Kreuz. What more could you want? Simply perfect.

Originally thought of as two tours, I combined them and am happy with it. It starts off steep and somewhat strenuous. Luckily in the forest. Up at the lookout point there is a really beautiful panorama. Then over to the Forstsee. I didn't try the water but there were people in it. After the circuit around the lake, which often goes along the shore and is sometimes adventurous, the tour leads back to the Roman Gorge. I didn't see any Romans there but it was a nice end.

The tour starts in Velden on Lake Wörthersee and leads through the Römerschlucht (Roman Gorge). Here, historical traces such as the Römerstein (Roman Stone) and the Römerbrücke (Roman Bridge) can still be found. The quaint path by the stream leads to the Forstsee, a pristine lake nestled in a beautiful forest setting. The Forstsee is located just a few kilometers north of Velden on Lake Wörthersee. It is a small, idyllic reservoir, originally created to generate electricity for the Forstsee power plant. Surrounded by dense forests, the lake is perfect for walking, hiking, and enjoying peaceful nature. There are two marked circular trails, almost entirely flat, and the lake is considered a hidden gem for those seeking respite from the crowds at Lake Wörthersee. The Forstsee is located just a few kilometers north of Velden on Lake Wörthersee. A romantic path through the Roman Gorge with a gentle climb leads past the historic Roman stone and old scale marks. Continuing along the path, you reach a small paradise – the Forstsee. If Lake Wörthersee is the big brother, then it can easily call itself the very small, shy brother. Firstly, when vacationing on Lake Wörthersee, you wouldn't imagine that such a beautiful lake could be located here in the forest, and secondly, you couldn't have found a better turning point for the Slow Trail than the circuit around the tranquil Forstsee. Consequently, you walk around the entire lake, enjoying the wildly romantic shores and letting yourself be swept away by the serenity of the place. An absolute highlight is the "Hohes Kreuz" viewpoint. Here, you have a unique view of Lake Wörthersee and the panorama beyond. You can see everything from the Karawanks to the Julian Alps and the Villacher Alpe. Wishing you lots of fun and enjoyment on this tour, Roland
