On my first day in Umbria, I decide to ride the Tiber bike path starting from Ponte San Giovanni. It's beautiful and scenic, partly along the Tiber and partly through the fields and hills to the northeast. The 5.2km x 2km section is best suited to a mountain bike or walkers. The route is narrow and rugged; alternatively, there's a bike path, not listed in the guidebook, made of wide concrete to accommodate two bikes side by side. The bike path then becomes passable without too many problems, a compact dirt road with sections of fine gravel and part concrete. From the 15.4km mark, for 2.5km, the bike/pedestrian path is closed due to repairs. Once I reach Ponte Pattoli, I head back to Perugia. I climb up to the old town, shift gears, and I'm really pumping! The city is beautiful, and I explore it slowly. It's very breezy, I think because it's on top of a hill, and the heat is bearable. I visited the Etruscan well. It's interesting to think that structure is 2,300 years old. Oh, and if you're a FIAB member, you get a discount on your ticket.
40 kilometers of cycle path there and back, too bad that about one kilometer of it was closed and they made the surface like the photo of the concrete bridge... it's been finished for a while and the work was supposed to end in June 😯... it's the usual "little Italy"... long live China! Bye Cice @Alicia have a good trip around to you and everyone 😊🚴🚵♀️
The photo of the dead tree gives a good idea of how I feel today, given this heat and the pills they're giving me. A felled giant... Happy hiking, everyone! 😊🚵♀️🚴
