A pretty weir of the River Taff, the Radyr Weir runs today as a hydro power scheme and a focal point of Radyr town. Many wild salmon and sea trout can be found at the Weir, as well as grey herons and cormorants.

The beautiful Glamorganshire Canal Local Nature Reserve is located in Whitchurch, Cardiff, along the former Cardiff Merthyr canal.

The area is very popular with locals, who describe it as the only place in the city where you can truly feel like you are in the countryside. There are kingfishers, herons, and many other species to be discovered and oak and beech species as old as 200 years!
