Monte Guglielmo, known as Gölem, is the most loved and visited mountain by those who live in Brescia. For some people it was the first summit reached, for others it is an unmissable event every year. Its massif can be recognized from every corner of the plain.
Located between Val Trompia and Lake Iseo, it owes its popularity above all to the easy access of its paths which allow you to reach almost 2,000 meters above sea level and enjoy an exceptional panorama just a few kilometers from the city.
The name "Guglielmo" is actually a mistake. The original term Gölem derives from the Latin culmen, i.e. "culmination", or the top of the mountain. "William" is therefore a translation error that has no relation to the personal name.
From Croce di Marone you set off following the signs for Monte Guglielmo along an easy dirt mule track. At the first hairpin bend, leave the dirt road and take the path on the right that goes up through the woods. Leaving the path you rejoin the road and continue the journey until you reach Malga Guglielmo di Sotto.
Continue along the mule track up to Malga Guglielmo di Sopra and shortly after you reach the Almici refuge. From here in a few minutes you can reach the Monument of the Redeemer at the top of Monte Guglielmo.
A people counter has been installed next to the monument: every hiker who reaches the top presses a button to certify his arrival. Don't forget to press that button!
