The ways to climb to the top of Monte Guglielmo are many and all satisfying, both for the variety of environmental contexts crossed and for the panoramas that open up before the eyes.
From the Zone cemetery, follow the signs for the Bosco degli Gnomi, an almost fairy-tale path characterized…

I felt like walking taking advantage of the snow that fell yesterday and today's beautiful day I thought of Mount Guglielmo. Having made up my mind at the last minute, I set out from the Country of Zone. Definitely the longest and most tiring path that leads to the summit, but it offers truly unique views. Today, in particular, you could see the whole Alpine arc up to the lower Piedmont. Monte Rosa seemed a stone's throw away. The Apennines ditto, but what impressed me is that you could see Lake Iseo and Garda simply by turning your gaze a little. Keeping your gaze close, you have wonderful views of Lake Iseo, of the Corna Trenta Passi that accompanies you for a long time. For those who have the time and desire, there is also the beautiful Bosco degli Gnomi, two shelters and much more.
I start from Zone, leaving the car in the convenient free parking lots on the edge of the town. Yesterday had been marked by a strong and continuous wind; today the air is more stable, although, as I approach the summit, some sudden gusts make themselves felt again and add a touch of character to the route. The path soon enters the Bosco degli Gnomi (Gnomes' Wood), where wooden sculptures emerge among the trees like small, silent presences. After this fairytale interlude, the climb becomes wider and more panoramic, reaching the Rifugio Almici, which appears as a reassuring resting point before the final stretch to the summit. From here, the view opens up and Monte Guglielmo shows all its elegance: a wide, bright ridge that invites you to continue despite the wind that occasionally returns to push strongly. The summit, when finally reached, rewards you with a vast horizon and a sense of space that only this mountain can offer.
This video isn't just a report of the trek, but the story of an unforgettable day. I hope it conveys the beauty and emotions we experienced. If you're interested in this trek, you can also watch the full adventure here: https://youtu.be/xoI_esfUjtU
Monte Guglielmo stands out from below thanks to its large monument to the Redeemer right at the top of the plateau. At almost 2000 meters above sea level you have a wonderful view of Lake Iseo, the surrounding mountain ranges, the lower section of Lake Garda around Sirmione and - with a bit of luck - the Apennine mountains on the horizon. We chose the rise of Zone. This initially leads through the Bosco degli Gnomi. Here you will find numerous lovingly crafted wooden sculptures. We continue on the forest path up to the plateau. The beautiful part of the path begins there with a wonderful view over the lake and the mountains and one or two herds of cows 😉 Anyone who has fought their way up should not forget to use the people counter at the chapel to immortalize their ascent 👌
Very nice and easy tour!!!! Missing part of the descent to add you have 12km .... plus 6 .... just a good leg
If you want, close your eyes... Imagine walking through a cool, dense, green forest of beech and fir trees. You can only hear the beating of wings of singing birds as they frantically move from tree to tree. Then silence... only your footsteps. For a stretch of the road, you'll be surrounded by the magical creatures that inhabit the forest, expertly carved in wood. They peer down at you from their thrones. You'll reach the end of the forest. The green of the imposing mountain towers over you. Walk like me today among the clouds... Have a good hike!! 💚 I have to say, though: I'm sorry, but the summit of Guglielmo isn't even a little beautiful. It's a shame because the view, despite the clouds, is postcard-perfect. Punta Caravina is better. P.S. My very personal opinion.
Beautiful hike with a fantastic view. Unfortunately, it didn't record the ascent. There was a total of 1,250 meters of ascent.
Palmarusso refuge open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays all year round. Very helpful and friendly owners.... New and renovated place.
