Hike from Peschiera Maraglio to the Sanctuary of Ceriola

To round off today's hike, here's our second. This time on Monte Isola, the largest island in Lake Iseo. The goal was the church at the top of the mountain, about 400 meters above sea level.

With the ferry to Peschiero Maraglio and from there very steeply up to the Sanitorio Monte Isola. Then down to Carcano and along the lake back to the ferry. An absolutely recommendable hike with fantastic views of the lake.

Unfortunately, I slowed down my men today 🤭 It was too warm and steep in places... I'm just not 20 anymore 🤣

A day on vacation at Lake Iseo. We cycled to the ferry. Unfortunately, muzzles are required on the ferry, even for small dogs. (Yesterday, they weren't required in the bike basket.) After buying a muzzle that didn't fit, we were allowed to cross over. The hike on the island, with views of the lake, the mountains, and the islands, was breathtakingly beautiful.

I recommend arriving in Peschiera di Maraglio by boarding from Sulzano, equipped with trekking poles, follow path 1 and 2, keeping to the left as soon as you land. After a not too demanding climb, even if it shouldn't be underestimated, you arrive at the Sanctuary, from here a very suggestive 360° view. For the descent, follow the red path that crosses the wood until you reach Masse, then Carzano and finally you return to Peschiera M. Enjoy your excursion!

From the tourist hotspot Peschiera (the arrival port of the shuttle ferry), it goes steeply uphill on almost alpine paths. The view from the pilgrimage church over the lake and the shore is magnificent. The way back along the shore road is very easy.

Nice, varied tour, you should definitely do it if you're in the area anyway. We went up path 1 from Perschiera to Cure, nice view to the southwest and easy to master despite the steep incline, uphill this part is definitely easier on the knees than the other way around ;) . In Cure we then decided to walk up the southern arch to the Santuario della Madonna della Ceriola, which is also very comfortable. From Cure we went down the northern side again, apart from one or two short passages mostly flat down the slope, the view often far to the north and very varied through the small villages of the island. If you need the ferry to Sulzano like we do, you may have to walk the road on the east bank to Peschiera, but that can be done in about 30 minutes and there is practically no annoying traffic :)
