At 25 km and around 400 meters in altitude, this MTB circular route is a good tour for beginners and connoisseurs. However, there are many opportunities to explore the geological features of the Rhön on the tour.
Current route information, closures and diversions are communicated in the Rhön via the official website www.kuppen-biken.de from the district of Bad Kissingen. You can also report problems regarding the condition of the path or markings here.
A highlight is the churches - no, not RUINS - but church RAW CONSTRUCTION above Aura. Planned as a pilgrimage church in the 17th century, the Thirty Years' War prevented its completion. Another highlight of the tour is even older: the dinosaur tracks near Euerdorf. There, after a storm, 230 million old stone slabs from the Middle Buntsandstein came to light, in which the traces of dinosaurs have been preserved, which were on the move almost exactly 230 million years ago.
The Buntsandstein corresponds to the oldest period of the Triassic. If you want to learn more about the geological age of the Triassic, we recommend a visit to the Triassica Museum in Euerdorf, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the route. If you don't like it, just drive on 10 million years and get shell limestone under your tires. A light, platy rock on whose soils wine also thrives. On our tour we touch the vineyards of Wirmsthal before we reach the Wittelsbacher Turm and thus the highest point of the route via a beautiful single trail. The view across Bad Kissingen to the Black Mountains and the Kreuzberg is unique.
After passing the ruins (this time really ruins) of the Eyringsburg, the Bad Kissingen golf course has to be crossed. Attention wearing a helmet! ;) Those who have made it can expect what is considered to be the most beautiful part of the tour: the ride along the gnome caves. Large blocks of red sandstone with many crevices and cavities line the narrow path. And if you look closely, you can see an imp peeking out between the crevices here and there.

Shortly after the Wittelsbacher Tower, only experienced riders can ride this section; pushing is possible. Long trousers are recommended, as are tall grass. Otherwise, this is a lovely little loop through much of the forest.
A really nice ride today 😍😍😍 to start a week in Bad Kissingen. Super varied, great motifs, flowing trails at minus 3-5%, just how I like it 🥰. Wonderful!
Very nice MTB tour with great panoramic views and some trails. Sights: Geotope dinosaur tracks near Euerdorf, geotope "Wichtelhöhlen", geotope on Haarberg, Museum Triassica in Euerdorf (Sat / Sun from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.), Wittelsbach tower, Bad Kissingen state baths, ruins of Eyringsburg, ruins of monastery near Aura (but only one unfinished shell) Refreshment: Snack in Euerdorf restaurant at the "Wittelsbacher Turm",
