This route was planned by komoot.
The path is mostly shaded. Snow White's shelter is closed.
Departure from the car park for the hermitage. The first stretch is very steep and bumpy, a road built to reach the hermitage itself, the road is accompanied by votive columns, one every thirty metres, very suggestive. Truly beautiful path that reaches an equally interesting hermitage that deserves a visit in respectful silence. From here you take the left side to climb towards the summit. Beautiful route in the midst of the most complete nature until you reach the provincial road where just on the opposite side, about 50 meters away, there are the waterfalls on the Tiber, a cool and shady place suitable for this season, from here proceeding along an uphill path in use also on the mtb track you arrive at the crossroads to go up to the source of the Tiber. This piece is the ugliest ever, super tourist, camper, car and motorbike. Climb up terraced steps up to the Fascist era memorial stone which marks the birth of the river symbol of Rome, continuing you reach the pass and here things get drastically worse as it is a sunny summer Sunday, herds of all existing motor vehicles parked in every where, the squirrel's restaurant (shelter!!!) packed with people, meadows full of picnic blankets. The climb to the summit is logically a must the first time, but it is not worth a second step in the future, a terrible climb on a road marked by the wheels of off-road vehicles to reach the antennas above, the summit covered by trees with no view and relatively bare, no cross, perhaps radio antennas take their place even if someone has created mini crosses with intertwined twigs and planted them on the ground. The return starts from a path in the car park in front of the restaurant, after passing the Biancaneve refuge which is obviously closed, you return to true nature, finally to silence. The route is magnificent, immersed in wonderful beech forests almost all the time in the woods, the last km to return to the hermitage is something unique, here you can understand how once upon a time someone decided to stay and live as a hermit. Having reached the hermitage from the path opposite to the departure, only the 15 minutes left to enjoy until the car park.
Very suggestive route that I recommend in every season, but certainly in autumn the atmosphere is magical, for the colors of the forest, for the energy that you breathe on the ancient mule tracks, in the hermitage and finally at the sources of the Tiber. It is suitable for everyone because it is not particularly demanding, some climbs, but acceptable!
