Imagine a mountain bike adventure that mixes the most popular tourist attractions of Bormio with the hidden charm of some of the less known and less frequented valleys of the area: Valle Trela and Alpisella. This MTB ring tour takes you off the beaten track, showing you corners of nature that few people have been lucky enough to see.
The route begins in the large car park in Cancano, in front of the A2A building. After admiring the famous Cancano lakes on a flat route that follows their contours, you venture into Val Alpisella. This part of the route is characterized by steep but negotiable switchbacks, which take you through a peaceful coniferous forest and open onto a high mountain panorama, full of sparkling lakes and lush meadows. An exciting descent then takes you to Lake Livigno, from where you can decide to extend your itinerary.
Livigno is a border town that thrives on tourism and shopping. After the city break, the most adrenaline-pumping part of the Tour awaits you, between Lake Livigno and the Val Trela Pass. Here the slopes make themselves felt and it is not uncommon to meet cyclists in difficulty who decide to push the bike for short stretches. The effort is rewarded by the beauty of the Val Trela, a large and grassy basin that leads you up to a splendid view of the Cancano lakes, and then down in a long descent to the starting point.
This Tour represents the quintessential mountain bike experience in Bormio: spectacular alpine landscapes, a route that challenges your cycling skills and the discovery of hidden treasures of the region.
