Hiking

During this walking route you will get acquainted with a wooded hilly landscape and you will walk along the steep slopes of the northern part of the moraine. The area around the Duivelsberg is characterized by several steep, often short drying valleys.

Because of the openness of the landscape you can clearly recognize the structure of the hills and dry valleys. Do you see a valley with an elongated shape that runs parallel to a hill or plateau? Then there is a good chance that it is a dry valley, created by the enormous, propulsive force of the glacier ice.

You first walk through the open area along the steep slopes of the moraine. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of the area. The drying valleys here run in the direction of the Waal river plain.

The walk then continues over the moraine plateau. You will find a wooded area here and you can admire the ancient beech and oak trees. Take a break every now and then to take in the breathtaking views: after all, you are now on a higher point!

Halfway through the route is the Pannenkoekenrestaurant De Duivelsberg where you can rest and enjoy a delicious pancake. Hotel-café-restaurant 't Spijker is located at Rijksstraatweg 191 at the start and end of the route.

The walking route is about 9 kilometers long and the start and end point is Hotel-Restaurant 't Spijker in Beek-Ubbergen. You can reach the starting point by bus or by car.
