When you imagine the perfect summer day, what comes to mind? A light breeze for me, an intense blue sky, and the – very cold – water of a mountain stream. If you think like me, then a trip up to val Vertova (they say Vértova!) is the experience for you. This excursion, one of the most popular in Lombardy, is an invitation to immerse yourself in the greenery, to let yourself be seduced by the song of the water and to experience summer in a different way. And it's suitable for all people, making it an ideal destination for a family adventure.
It starts from the village of Vertova, in Val Seriana. The Tour winds along the Vertova stream, guiding you through a natural environment of rare beauty. You will find yourself walking on a well-maintained mule track, with a minimal gradient. Along the way you will be able to admire the waterfalls and pools of water formed by the stream, where you will find spaces for swimming, sunbathing and cooling off during the summer months. The canyon, with its rock formations, offers a suggestive and fresh atmosphere, an oasis of well-being in the summer heat.
Val Vertova is a naturalistic oasis that will win you over at first glance, to be respected and preserved. For this reason, during the summer period, access to the Valley is limited to ensure the safety of people and maintain the unique characteristics of the place. For a quiet, hassle-free experience, I recommend some planning. First of all, the road to Val Vertova is closed to traffic from March 1st to October 31st. You will therefore have to park your car in one of the well-signposted car parks in the village. Furthermore, during the summer, access to the valley is limited by reservation. The entrance ticket can be purchased directly on site at a cost of €3.50 per person. If you don't want to risk going all the way for nothing, I suggest you book online: https://vallevertova.it/info-e-prezzi/prezzi-e-biglietti/

This route was planned by komoot.
In July and August it is necessary to book (also online). In the other months check. Adults € 2.5 each
Today we followed a colleague's tip and hiked in the Val Vertova...unfortunately in the drizzle and not really with an open malga or rifugio...but we had our food with us!! Finally wars ne nice round with great waterfalls.
Access to the valley for a fee also on foot € 3.50 per person, payment to be made online on the municipality's website. Why you have to pay to access a valley is incomprehensible.
What a nice tour! Unfortunately, as is sometimes the case with pictures, it does not come into its own. Children bathed in pools of waterfalls. Such clear water. The way back with a thunderstorm was a little adventurous
Trip also for families in greenery, beauty and peace
I would recommend just hike up Val Vertova and back the same way. The path to the Val del Grù is extremely steep and sometimes difficult to find. On the Val del Grù road you walk constantly along the road in the forest. There is not much to see.
