Trail Reviews

Alois 🚶
September 29, 2021, Wasser-, Wald- und Wiesenpfad Calw - Bad Teinach-Zavelstein

We started at the Zavelstein hiking home on the premium water, forest and meadow path Calw - Bad Teinach-Zavelstein. It turned out to be a good decision in the end. We ended up comfortably there while it was starting to rain outside.

Very nice way. Many paths and scenic variety

First the refreshment, then the fun😁. After lunch in the highly recommended Zavelstein hiking lodge, we set off on the (premium) trail with friends. It is one of the Black Forest gourmet trails. The highlight of this tour for us is the section in the Rötelbachtal: The stream babbles along the narrow path, sandstone rocks decorate the backdrop like works of art, marsh marigolds create bright yellow accents. In very early spring, crocus meadows dominate the scene near Zavelstein, a sea of violet flowers spills over the meadows.

From the hiking home in Zavelstein, we went on a nice tour through the idyllic Rötelbachtal with dear Susi today. First past the wild boar enclosure through the forest. At the viewing rock Gimpelstein you have a great view of the valley and later you pass the former execution site the scaffold and continue on forest paths and meadow paths. Another special experience is the Stubenfelsen with a great ledge and a small cave that you walk along. Ice Age hunters used to sit around the campfire here ;-) Back in the direction of the hiking hostel, we were already back at the parking lot but - not yet at our destination. We also made the detour to the Zavelstein castle ruins, which is absolutely worth seeing - just wow. Great round with lots of forest and meadows and not so bad many meters in altitude.

A varied hike. Rest benches are missing from the beginning to the middle, the highlights were the Calw scaffold and the Stubbenfelsen. So let's go.

Nice hike from the Zavelstein hiking lodge, some interesting stops. There is information about the Calwer scaffold, information about old forest professions. Beautiful view from the Gimpelstein, and the Rötelbachtal valley is great in terms of scenery, then comes the interesting Stubenfels. At the end you could also have a drink at the Zavelstein hiking lodge. 😎
