This route was planned by komoot.
Today we went on a nice trek with several friends; it was a very hot day. One of the girls had a seizure on the descent along the ridge; it was hard to carry her down and back up to the square.
COSTIERA SORRENTO Naples Italy Hike date: February 13, 2025 About 9 km Ring route: Termini - Punta Campanella, Monte San Costanzo, Termini. Water points: Piazzetta Termini (start and end of route). Vegetation on excursion date not invasive with possibility of growth in late spring - summer Animals spotted on the route: 0 Tour with spectacular views. The departure is from the Termini square following the first stretch to Punta Campanella of about 4 km on a paved surface (suitable for everyone). From Punta Campanella towards Monte San Costanzo (cai300) the route is mainly on stones and rocks, often covered with grass that make it a little difficult to see the route. The route is quite steep uphill but it is advisable to pay attention to find the path not always visible due to grass, and the passages on stones and rocks do not allow too many distractions. Some small exposed sections near the pine forest of Monte San Costanzo. On the other hand, the section is well marked by CAI signs. Once we reach Monte San Costanzo, lunch break and return on the asphalt road until we return to Termini. Initially, the excursion was planned to continue from San Costanzo to Nerano and then Baia di Ieranto, but due to lack of time we shortened the tour.
From Sant' Agata we took the bus to Termini. We bought the tickets in a fruit shop near the bus stop 😀. From Termini we first climbed up to the church of San Costanzo. The view from here of the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Naples is magnificent. Then we began the descent over the ridge of Monte San Constanzo. With the beautiful view of the island of Capri constantly in view, the demanding route was challenging in some places. After reaching the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula (Punta Campanella), the climb led us back to the starting point between olive tree terraces.
Yesterday we visited Pompeii. We had an enthusiastic guide and thanks to her stories, antiquity came alive. Well worth it! Then we went up Mount Vesuvius with a guide, all the way to the top of the volcano, on the edge of the crater. Wow!! Unfortunately I forgot to record the tour... Today it was wow again! This time we started in Termini and walked to Punta Campanella. What a tough trip, on rocky terrain, with a steep descent before the tip of the peninsula. Then back via the somewhat easier path (where we still had to gain the necessary elevation gain). Beautiful trip with some exciting parts (at least for me, with my fear of heights) but with fantastic views!
The hike itself was beautiful again but we almost died in the heat. The stones have heated up so much and the air has stood still! 🥵🥵 A highlight was the bread we received from our hostel mother: grilled zucchini with cheese and red pesto on fennel chiabatta! A force! In the end everything went well and the cool beer was already cold in our accommodation...
