Big island tour on Amrum - day trips on the North Sea

Sunshine and a wide view: these are ideal conditions for a beautiful circular tour on the island of Amrum. We take a short ride up to the upper Wandelbahn and enjoy the beautiful view over the salt marshes to the Kniephaken and the distant water. The bike path then initially runs along the island road, and soon we are delighted to see the first blooming heathlands. In the area of the lighthouse, the heath creates a beautiful picture. Afterwards, we cycle along the pleasantly quiet Amrumer Waldrandweg and almost miss the turnoff to the bird hide. This detour is well worth it, and we hike the loop through the wild grounds of the former duck trapping facility. There are several side paths leading through the beautiful dune landscape to the beach, but we don't have time for that today. In Norddorf, we finally cycle to the beach and walk along boardwalks to the water. This wide sandy beach is fascinating, and the high waves on the shore tempt us to take a quick dip, but the cold wind deters us. We head back via the lovely town of Nebel, where we'd like to take a break at the café, but we decide against it because of the long line outside. Towards Steenodde, we have to take gravel roads, but the views from the cliff toward Föhr are beautiful. We don't visit the festival in Steenodde, preferring to enjoy the original Amrum Frisian waffle later at Café Kaffeeflut in Wittdün.

Day tour Nordstrand = Amrum and back... Beautiful island with great sights... great bike paths and then this beach, this expanse, this Kniepsand.... uniquely beautiful...! i love this island Bicycles can be rented right away at the ferry dock... better book some beforehand, especially if you want an e-bike.. Nice restaurants in Nebel... and shopping... An excursion is definitely worthwhile on this island

Today, on Father's Day, we boarded the ferry to Dagebüll and drove to our favorite island in North Frisia. With the weather initially perfect, we leisurely cruised to our destinations and well-known highlights and were able to enjoy everything. Only in the last hour did we experience a bit of rain, which followed us back to the mainland. A beautiful tour and, therefore, a wonderful day!
