Second time doing this tour, this time the other way around. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, the tower was closed for construction - the weather would have been perfect...
Round by bike around Hanover in nice sunny weather and Pentecostal traffic volume (my face, where do they all come from?). Finish at the Maschsee with a view of the annual dragon boat race!
This bike path beauty is so perfect that you hardly notice the length.
Well, after we had our problems with the DB on the outward journey (see: https://www.komoot.de/tour/1905957675?ref=aso ), the actual "Julius Trip Trail" was really great. The route mostly led through forest and green areas - simply great, highly recommended! You can find more information here: https://www.hannover.de/Kultur-Freizeit/Naherholung/Natur-erleben/Radfahren/Der-Julius-Trip-Ring We split the return journey with the DB in two. With the S4 to Mellendorf, because we thought the DB train would be emptier from Mellendorf onwards. Wrong thought! The train was very full, NO bicycle compartment and luckily the train driver didn't make a fuss and we made the best of it with "a lot of humor from us and our fellow passengers" - but still just sh...! In the meantime, the train posted that it is not possible to take bikes with you (see screenshot) - what should you do then... No words - just frustration with the DB!!! 😡🤦♂️😡
At 13°C during Advent, I cycled along Hanover's green ring road (Julius-Trip-Ring). A beautiful route without any bothersome car traffic, entirely on asphalt. The weather, however, was gloomy. By the end of the ride, a persistent rain had soaked me right down to my underwear. But no matter, I was able to warm up and dry off in the train station before heading back to Peine. When nature awakens again in spring, it's worth cycling the same route again; everything looks much more inviting when the sun is shining down from above. A lovely tour around the city, mostly through green areas. Only in the north, in the Vahrenwald district, is the cycle path about 500 metres along a busy road. There are numerous highlights of the city along the way. It's also a good idea to do it with out-of-town guests. You can always stop for a break. If not directly on the way, then at least nearby. Have fun!
The Julius-Trip-Ring is a 24 km long circular route that leads around the city center of Hanover. Created on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Julius Trip's death (first city gardening director of Hanover 1897-1907), the route leads along the Maschsee, the banks of the Leine and Ihme with Herrenhausen, through the allotment gardens in the north and through the Eilenriede. We started at the tax thief - I traveled by bike, the rest of the family members participate or the bikes with the bike rack. After initial difficulties ... we ride one behind the other ... it is a bit more busy than here in the village🙈, but at the Maschsee we had prepared ourselves for it and enjoyed the circuit, which offers a lot of green and water. We modified the original route a little - we drove on the Leine to the Herrenhausen Leine weir and only there we turned off towards Herrenhausen. A visit to the ice cream parlor on Vahrenwalder Platz also provided a branch off the tour. The tour can also be driven with children who can easily cover a distance of almost 25 km. The paths are all easy to drive on.
Very nice tour in Hanover almost always in the green and always on well-developed bike paths
