This route was planned by komoot.
Yesterday, I flew from Frankfurt to Madrid and then drove about 200 km northwest through a nearly uninhabited landscape to Valladolid in a rental car. The goal of the trip is to visit historic towns in Old Castile, located on a plateau 700 to 1000 meters high. Valladolid is the approximate center of the region. As the photos show, Valladolid, situated on the Pisuerga River, is a beautiful city with 300,000 inhabitants, where modernity and tradition blend well. Everything here is well-kept, clean, and presentable. Even the city traffic is manageable. The weather was unusual for me. Over 30 degrees Celsius, very low humidity of 15%, almost no wind, and yet the air still felt a bit hazy. Outside of Valladolid, visibility was limited, with hills and forests only visible in outline. Breathing was like breathing through a very thin cloth. At midday up to 31 degrees, calm, warm but not hot, as the air was a bit hazy.
