This route was planned by komoot.
In the gorge, the GPS reception was very limited😀
You can find the video of the tour here: https://youtu.be/X7Ru-gXh9H0
Found via Google Maps. Very nice. At the end of Laterns there is even a free hiking car park and the gorge itself is also free. The sun was only supposed to come out this afternoon and so I didn't arrive in Laterns until 3 p.m. The tour was doable in 3 hours. As the note says: mountain boots, surefootedness and a head for heights are required. Entering at your own risk. The path is marked as a blue hiking trail. It is closed in winter. The path is mostly well secured and there are usually ropes stretched. You can also walk in the shade for the most part. So ideal for hot days. I drove the A14 to the Hohenems exit. After that I think you need the vignette. From there to Laterns I noticed a noticeable number of speed cameras. So be careful!
Very strenuous, adventurous, sometimes dangerous paths, made accessible with wire ropes, ladders and railings, but impressive and absolutely worth seeing
Wonderful 😍if you have time look at all the photos. I've already reduced them 🙈
This is a "hike only" excerpt from the entire "Bike+Hike" tour: https://www.komoot.de/tour/852047809 In the very deep gorge there are some GPS outliers due to logically poor reception. We drove to the starting point of the tour from Rankweil by bike. The tour can also be started on the other side of the valley, in Laterns-Thal. You can take the bus or car from Rankweil to the village (P east of the village). https://www.laterns.at/freizeit/anfahrt-und-parken/wanderwege/ueble-schlucht
Saw Werner and Andrea yesterday... I was so impressed by their photos that I had to follow the tour (without the bike part) immediately. The bad gorge is even more impressive in person than on the photos! A fairly steep, well-secured path (marked white-blue-white) leads through the narrow gorge. It's not easy, nor is the descent into the gorge, but it's doable for experienced hikers. So as clearly marked on the signposts. After a not so exciting intermediate section, but with a nice waterfall, we went down again to the Frutz and then back up to Laterns. Thank you @Werner 🚶♂️🚵♂️🚴♂️ and @Andrea🐶🚵🏻🥾 !
